Many celebrities nowadays have become true cannabis entrepreneurs by creating some really high-quality products that are worth trying, and we’re here for it. These past few years have been excellent for the cannabis industry that just keeps on growing and expanding, so it’s no wonder that some celebrities, who also happen to enjoy a doobie or two, are launching their own canna-businesses.

In this article, we’ll talk about ten celebs who have successfully made a name for themselves in the cannabis business world.

10 Celebs That Have Their Own Weed Strains and Companies

Let’s see which celebrity cannabis brands have been trending as of late.

1. Snoop Dogg’s Weed Company: Leafs By Snoop

If there’s one celebrity whose name and image are synonymous with weed, it’s Snoop Dogg. Snoop launched his weed brand Leafs by Snoop in Colorado back in 2015 through an exclusive announcement on his own platform, Merry Jane. Leafs by Snoop or LBS is a carefully crafted line of cannabis products intended for both recreational and medical use. Snoop himself had a hand in each step of the process and the products reflect his own tastes and standards.

The product line consists of flowers, concentrates, and edibles available in recreational and medical dispensaries in select cities in Colorado.

The flower collection includes four Indica-dominant hybrids, three Sativa-dominant hybrids, and one high CBD strain, while the edible products are: chocolate bars made with cannabis oil, fruit chews, gummies, and a special treat called Peanut Butter Gems. The packaging is sleek and bright and the design has colorful patterns inspired by Californian sunshine – everything Snoop loves!

2. Seth Rogen’s Weed Company: Houseplant

Actor and screenwriter Seth Rogen has been a self-proclaimed weed lover for many years now. In fact, he played a stoner ripping bongs and blunts in many of the movies he has written and starred in, the most notable being Superbad and Pineapple Express. In 2019, together with his creative partner, screenwriter Evan Goldberg, and businessman Michael Mohr, they launched Houseplant.

The company was first launched in Canada before it branched out to the U.S. in 2021, and when it did, there was a lot of hype. The website was so overloaded with visits that it crashed. And that says a lot.

Houseplant has a unique approach because it combines the love of weed and home goods in one place. The Home part of their website sells exquisitely made oils lamps, ashtrays, lighters, cups, and other kinds of home goods. And the Plant part is where the cannabis magic happens.

The collection includes three types of top-shelf nugs – one Indica, one Sativa, and one hybrid packed in stylish retro-inspired tin boxes with attractive colors. Their slogan reads: “For people who love weed, by people who love weed,” so you’ll know you’re ordering from like-minded weed-lovers.

3. Jay-Z’s Weed Company: Monogram

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z partnered up with Caliva, a California-based company to create his premium cannabis brand Monogram. The company was launched in late 2020 and has been thriving ever since. Stationed in San Jose, California, the colossal Monogram factory spans 100,000 square feet including the ever-busy front door dispensary.

Everything about the brand screams luxury, the most evident being the elegant, all-black industrial aesthetics. But the goal of the brand isn’t to offer a synthetic, industrial experience by selling factory-produced joints. On the contrary – the pre-rolls they sell have all been hand-rolled the old-school way.

Besides pre-rolls, the company produces eight different top-shelf cannabis strains. They also sell jars of cannabis buds and a special pre-roll called the “OG Handroll,” which is a hefty joint filled with 1.5 gr dank cannabis. Their cannabis strains are classified as “light,” “medium,” or “heavy.” As they say on their website, Monogram likes to focus on the full profile of the strain and its unique properties, rather than getting hung up on percentages of cannabinoids and terpenes.

4. Mike Tyson’s Weed Company: Tyson Ranch

Former heavyweight champion and big cannabis enthusiast Mike Tyson has ventured out into the cannabis business and he has no intentions of backing down. He has said that he’s been a long-time marijuana user throughout his career because it has helped him deal with the immense physical and emotional stress of being a professional boxer.

It was in 2016 when he started Tyson Holistic Holdings Inc. which now sells a variety of cannabis products, including different strains, concentrates, edibles, and CBD products. Instead of growing the plants themselves, the company collaborates with local farms and sells their strains under their brand. Tyson says that there is a lot of emphasis on quality control. The buds they sell are cured for at least 30 days before hitting the shelves, and they’re pesticide-free and lab-tested.

The best part of Tyson’s weed company is the building of the Tyson Ranch, which is a gigantic  418-acres piece of land located in Southern California. The idea is to make it a luxurious wellness resort where guests can stay in a luxury hotel or at one of the glamping set-ups.

5. Wiz Khalifa’s Weed Company: Khalifa Kush

Unlike other celebrities on our list, rapper and songwriter Wiz Khalifa doesn’t have his own cannabis company, at least not yet. However, he has numerous other collaborations with cannabis businesses. These endorsements have helped him to establish a name for himself in the cannabis world and be a part of some very exciting projects.

The most famous collaboration Wiz Khalifa has done so far has to be the creation of his own cannabis line called Khalifa Kush. It all started in the early 2010s when he developed his own Khalifa Kush strain before finally deciding to share it with the world. The Khalifa Kush strain was developed from an unknown phenotype of OG Kush. It’s an Indica-dominant strain with strong piney notes, suitable for both daytime and nighttime use.

In 2016 the Khalifa Kush flower reached the dispensaries in Southwestern U.S., and now the Khalifa Kush line has expanded into a full collection of pre-rolls, edibles, vapes, and concentrates.

6. B-Real’s Weed Company: Dr. Greenthumb’s

Dr. Greenthumb first appeared in the eponymously titled 1998 single by Cypress Hill as B-Real’s alter ego cannabis grower. A couple of decades later, and he’s the owner of his own cannabis brand title – you guessed it, Dr. Greenthumb’s. It seems like his alter ego was just waiting for the right time to come forth.

As a member of Cypress Hill, B-Real and his bandmates have always been outspoken about their support of marijuana legalization and now when the laws around weed are slowly changing, he chose to expand his passion for weed into business.

Dr. Greenthumb’s Dispensary was launched in 2018 in California and it sells a variety of cannabis products for both medical and recreational use. On their shelves, you’ll find different Indicas, Sativas, and hybrids, edibles, concentrates, topicals, and pre-rolls, anything that a weed lover might desire. Over the years, the company has been opening up dispensaries in select regions in California and they keep developing new and exciting strains, so there’s a lot to look forward to.

7. Bob Marley’s Weed Company: Marley Natural

Bob Marley’s Marley Natural is a cannabis company launched by his family in honor of Marley’s love for cannabis. The creation of the company was funded by Privateer Holdings, a Seattle-based equity company that invests in local cannabis businesses. Marley Naturals was established in 2014 and it’s branded as a company that embodies and supports the Rastafarian virtues of Bob Marley himself.

The cannabis line they sell includes four sungrown cannabis strains: Sativa, Indica, hybrid, and CBD-rich flower. Besides these, you can also find pre-rolls, vape cartridges, hash, and a variety of smoking accessories, such as water pipes, grinders, ashtrays, rolling trays, and many more. The pieces are artfully made with a classic mix of glass and wood, with the wood giving a nod to nature.

8. Willie Nelson’s Weed Company: Willie’s Reserve

Willie Nelson is a well-known weed connoisseur and a marijuana legalization advocate, so it’s no wonder that in 2015 he finally started his own cannabis company called Willie’s Reserve. Willie is known for the diversity of his legendary stash and when he started his company, he made sure it was a cannabis line that’s universal and appealing to everyone.

His company sells a range of cannabis buds packed in glass jars and boxes, and you can also find pre-rolls, vape cartridges, live resin, and even vape chargers. The sister line to Willie’s Reserve is Willie’s Remedy, which is a high-quality CBD line abundant in a variety of CBD-infused products sourced from organically grown hemp. You’ll find CBD-infused coffee, tea, topicals, and tinctures that look so inviting that will surely get your attention. Willie is the chief tasting officer, so if they have his approval, we’ll have to trust him!

9. Tommy Chong’s Weed Company: Tommy Chong’s

One half of the legendary comedic duo Cheech and Chong which has become synonymous with smoking pot in the 1970s opened up his cannabis company in 2016 in California. His company was, in fact, one of the first celebrity dispensaries in California in the early days of medical cannabis legalization. Now that the climate is changing, their products are available in all states where weed is legal.

Tommy Chong’s Cannabis collaborates with a number of inventive manufacturers based both in the U.S and offshore in order to produce the best products that represent the vision of the brand. Their website brims with a variety of products – you’ll find Indica, Sativa, and hybrid flowers and pre-rolls, edibles such as THC strips and cannabis-infused honey, as well as oils and cartridges.

There is even a CBD line of products where you’ll find topicals, full-spectrum oils, and nano CBD. It’s hard to leave the store empty-handed, especially when it’s being marketed by a cannabis legend.

10. The Game’s Weed Company: Trees by Game

Rapper The Game launched his cannabis company Trees by Game in 2017 in California to immediate success. The entire collection consists of high-end products, such as top-shelf weed, pre-rolls, rolling trays, and even a clothing line. They work with select manufacturers that adhere to the highest production standards in order to produce the best dank weed possible.

In an interview with High Times, when asked what makes their cannabis collection different from others, The Game stated: “Our goal is to make the entire smoking experience more enjoyable by providing the finest and highest-grade flower in the industry: Trees by Game. Our products are part of the evolution of this industry, and it’s an honor to be a part of that growth.”

The products are all double lab-tested before being put up for sale and the packaging is colorful but simple, yet the design itself hints that what you’re getting is by no means ordinary. Sadly, the products are only available in Californian dispensaries, at least for now.

Conclusion

We finally live in an era where celebrities can freely talk about their appreciation and use of cannabis, and even take it up a notch – by launching their own exciting brands. Some of these brands are intended to be more high-end than others, but all in all, they are quality products created by fellow weed lovers. Many celebrities use their platform to educate the public about the benefits of cannabis as well as voice their opinions on its current legal status, which is always a bonus.

A passionate advocate for the benefits of cannabis. Fraser Horton, who has a background in botany and a strong love of nature, has spent years researching how cannabis affects the body and mind. He established Leaf Nation in 2020, where he has devoted himself to educating people about the legalisation of marijuana and its safe and responsible use. Fraser is committed to highlighting cannabis’ potential for improving wellness and working to dispel the stigma associated with its use.
